BASEBOARD
Between the floor and wall, a half inch or more gap must remain to allow for the natural expansion and contraction of the flooring, due to temperature and humidity changes. The base boards cover the gap, and are available in a number of decorative styles. If you are planning on running phone or cable wiring through your home, doing that before the molding is installed will be easier.
